Carsten Wieland
Carsten says ........... I think the most important thing about happy painting is that you know some rules and forget about them when you are in the painting process. I think watercolor is a medium that is brought to life by the artist’s personality. It wouldn’t make much sense to try to paint like Alvaro Castagnet because it will never look like one of his masterpieces. Of course, you can always learn from watching masters at work but it shouldn’t do anything else than inspire you to do your own stuff. I think I am old enough to be patient with myself and find my own way.
In March 2019, Carsten Wieland held his first solo exhibition in his home town of Essen, a collection of works from the past three years.
Previously, he has participated in many exhibitions in Germany and Europe, such as FabrianoInAcquarello, the Italian International Watercolor Festival in 2018, and other festivals in Prague and Krakow.
Carsten's live painting exhibition was warmly welcomed by visitors. His main motivation was inspired by his travels, part of the abandoned farms and townhouses in the United States. Carsten said he was so impressed by the dilapidated Victorian architecture near Brush Park that it was not enough to describe what he saw in the photos.
