ARTIST NOTES: While those with smooth youthful skin have distinctive beauty, older age has its own deep loveliness.
My friend Eva, who turned 100 earlier this year, is completely blind and confined to a wheelchair. We were listening to music together recently, and she asked for some of the old hymns that she loves. Eva's face lit up with pleasure as the words and music worked their chemistry, and I was struck by her beauty.
This portrait is my tribute to her.
