ARTIST BIO

My Name is Jenny Wong. When I was a kid a drawing pad and coloured pencils where my favourite toys. I could sit still most of the day and draw and never got bored. I remember one day my mum asked me what do I love to do? I answered her straight back and said DRAWING! 

Mum then found me a fantastic art teacher who taught me proper drawing skills which included pencil sketching, colour pencil drawing, watercolours, pastels and oil painting. 

I was inspired by the great artists of the 19th century and my favourite artists are; Paul Cezanne, Claude Monet, Edgar Degas and Auguste Renoir. I was very impressed by their use of colours, composition and brush strokes. I feel that still-life drawings allow people to appreciate nature. 

After I moved to Melbourne, I spent most of my time taking care of my boys and didn’t draw much at all. But four years ago I started teaching drawing as a volunteer. I taught people who are suffering from cancer and found that drawing was able to help to relieve stress and improve concentration. I am so grateful to have the chance to use my expertise to help people. I also now teach private lessons at my home based art studio. In the future, I wish to participate with the community, using my expertise to help more people who are less fortunate.
