Ida will take you on a journey through the Italian Landscape - via the Alps - with lakes and waterfalls - she will discuss with you how to summarize the image and find the personal focal point

I will use a reference Photo of a Italian landscape  for example the Alps or lake or waterfall, and we will discuss how to summarize the image and find the personal focal point.

We will make graphite sketches on a drawing paper as study for tonal shades, we also we will search the color shades to  chose a personal harmony - a combination from each student's palette.

Than I will make my demo for the students - so they can follow.

Materials To Bring

  • At least 2 x Half sheet 56 x 38cm - 300g cotton watercolour paper,
  • Plus some scraps of 300gsm watercolour paper for you to experiment on with Ida

  • 3 x flat brushes one in each size of large, medium and small
  • A jar/bucket to wash your brush in
  • kitchen towel

  • and a backing board to support your paper and tape

Please bring your own colours of choice in tubes to paint with - Ida will get you to select a combination of tones and colours so the choice of paint colours are yours - please remember to bring a palette to put your paints on - big enough to mix freely with water as Ida's techniques are very loose!

Ida Tentolini - Profile

Ida Tentolini, a watercolor painter and art teacher

Ida graduated from the Art Institute of Parma in 1972 and lives on the banks of the Po River, lands of countryside, poplar groves and fogs.

Strongly inspired by nature, Ida have dedicated more than 23 years to research and perfecting the water technique.

Her artistic "Feeling" was initially academic but thanks to personal events, in recent years she has had the need to break out of these patterns that no longer represented her, leading her to a profound evolution, gradually leaving traces of drawing and turning towards full freedom of expression, gestures and the use of pigment in absolute freedom.

Her research is in continuous evolution, which is fundamental for her.
