Having learnt from some of the best in the world in watercolour; an emotive artist searching for mood, atmosphere, storyline & the pursuit of light focusing traditional semi realism juxtaposing impressionism in watercolour. Artist in Residence Falls Creek 2025. CQU graduate, past McGregor & AOTB tutor, prize-winning artist, exhibitor & sought after for commissions & workshops. It was not always like that. Self-taught, Bruce will forever be indebted to his early days with world renowned Australian & overseas artists Robert Wade OAM, Robert Lovett, Greg Allen, David Taylor, Herman Pekel, Alvaro Castagnet, Joseph Zbukvic & Thomas Schaller, following that up with formal university qualifications through Central Queensland University, leading me to a more professional direction of what I am now. This is a rich heritage to widen one’s horizons.
This full-time practising artist has an art studio in Kleinton, Queensland. He engages in workshops & teaching both locally & intrastate. “Teaching makes me a better artist.” He has learnt from some of the best in the world in watercolour & it takes a while to appreciate what is important, rejecting paintings that do not meet his increasingly exacting standards. “Work like that, art will find you.”
Bruce exhibits twice a year. He conducts structured watercolour classes & travel workshops within Queensland. His sales include England, United States, New Zealand & Australia. He has a website & a social media footprint. |
