I am passionate about Watercolour, its intrinsic beauty and sometimes unpredictable qualities. It is a constant learning journey. I try not to paint to a formula and tend to let the subject matter and my initial emotional and instinctive response contribute to the approach for each painting.
Exploration in the planning stages is always fun and an integral part of my process; using both tonal and colour sketches to explore my approach to a painting whether it is an en plein air or studio painting. Tone and colour are integral to my painting.
I love painting outdoors and from real life. It teaches you a lot about design, colour, shape and tone. A variety of subject matter is important. It keeps me challenged and honest in my learnig and approach to painting. Like life, not everything in painting or drawing is a success but you larn so much in the process. That leads to succesful paintings.
I enjoy sharing my waterclour knowledge with others and do so by teaching weekly classes at the local Community College and organising Watercolour workshops for the Albury Wodonga Art Society. it is inspiring to see people start their own swaterclour journey.
I enter local art shows and exhibitions whenever time permits. I have been humbled to sell paintings and receive a couple of awards at artshows. My paintings have been acquired by private and company collectors.
As a relative newcomer to Watercolour painting (less than 10 years part time) I am excited about the painting journey ahead and the results I will achieve.
